Collaboration amid coronavirus feeds thousands – part two

Community Food Kit program feeds over 9,000 local families

A decision to take our in-school pantry system mobile and create a Community Food Kit to feed entire families, launched March 27th. With the pandemic closing schools, kids and families could not access our ten “food for thought” pantries. Four distribution sites were created and the photo collage highlights activity at Antioch Bible Baptist Church (Site #3) and Platte County R-II (Site #4). This program ended June 26th, feeding so many for 14 weeks.

For an overview of the other two sites, visit our eblast from earlier this month.

Registration for the 10th Annual Bill Cross 5K Walk/Run for BackSnacks is open!!

Join us for our signature fundraiser. Zona Rosa will once again host our 5K on a beautiful Sunday morning, October 11th.  New this year is a partnership and sharing of the day with Festa Italia. Each registration will receive a free drink ticket to redeem at any beverage station for the entire festival. Be ready to walk/run the course at 8 am. Register using this link. Invite your friends, family and co-workers to join you OR to sponsor your efforts. Together we can raise funds to support our efforts to feed our kids, here in the Northland.

If COVID-19 restrictions limit our ability to have a traditional event, this will become a virtual 5K. No refunds will be issued. T-shirts and participation medals will be a part of everyone’s registration, regardless of a live or virtual event.

If your company or group is interested in sponsoring our event, please contact Chris at cevans@feednorthlandkids.org OR 816-301-GIVE.  At the $1,000 level your provided logo will have a “live link” and at the $2,000 level your logo will be printed our newly designed performance shirts.

So many are growing gardens this year. If you find you have excess and would like to share with those in need, please look at AmpleHarvest.org to find partner agencies accepting and distribution your donation!
